Taking Control in a Digital World
Through brief, useful videos on privacy, screen time, disinformation, and other topics, CtrlEdu is a digital literacy platform that aims to empower students to take charge of their online lives.
It began with the understanding that we belong to a generation that was brought up in front of screens but was seldom ever taught how to use them. I noticed the similar pattern when working with students and thinking back on my own behaviors: we weren't given direction, we were just expected to adjust.
However, I also noticed something potent: hope. Students were ecstatic when they were taught how to set limits, safeguard their privacy, or spot false information. Technology evolved from a mere diversion to a tool for education and self-respect.
Inspired by the Ctrl key, which represents restarting, controlling, and progress, CtrlEdu equips young people to make thoughtful, intelligent online decisions. It has nothing to do with limitations. It has to do with understanding leading to freedom.
We require rapid, high-quality solutions that truly reach kids where they are because of their shorter attention spans and the increasing demand from technology. That necessity and the conviction that effective education may have an impact well beyond the screen led to the creation of CtrlEdu.
